Ziggy is by the stallion Contango. Contango completed his stallion testing in Medingen in 1991 by being declared Champion of the testing. He proved his capability by scoring the highest marks in both the jumping and dressage segments of the test. He was declared a "Keur" stallion by the KWPN in 2002, an award reflecting both his own individual talents as well as the outstanding performance of his offspring.
Contango competed at the highest levels in dressage in the United States, placing first at Grand Prix seven times in 1997 and 18 times at Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle in 1999 and 2000. He has over 70 Star sons and daughters in Holland, and is the damsire of the highly acclaimed KWPN approved stallion Tango. His offspring compete at the highest levels in both jumping and dressage. For example, the Contango daughter Madorijke is currently long-listed on the Dutch dressage team, and two approved sons of Contango, Maroon and Newton, jump at Grand Prix level (like Ziggy, both are Contango x Voltaire crosses.)
Contango's sire is the highly respected elite German stallion Contender, who in his own right was Champion of his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 1987. Contender has over 30 approved sons and approximately the same number of SPS daughters, and is also known for producing talented sporthorses. Contender's sire was Calypso II (by Cor de la Bryere), one of the most significant stallion and sporthorse sires in modern German breeding. An interesting detail in Zingarella's breeding is that Contender's damsire was by G. Ramiro Z; Ziggy is therefore deeply linebred to Ramiro.
Ziggy's dam Garole is by the Preferent stallion Voltaire, who sadly passed away on Friday the 13th of August, 2004 on his way to the breeding shed. Voltaire's legacy not only includes numerous approved stallions and Preferent and Prestatie mares, but he also places consistently in the World Breeding Federation's Top Ten jumping sires of the world. Garole's damsire, Ramiro, needs no introduction.
Ziggy's pedigree combines the best of the blood of Cor de la Bryere, Ramiro and Voltaire. This combination is highly prized in both the showring and the broodmare barn.
Zingarella is maturing nicely and should finish at 16'2". She is well-boned, but still very light and quick on her feet. She will be ready for the saddle in the Spring of 2007. Zingarella is priced in Category B.
