Larole is by the recently deceased stallion Armstrong, the winner of his stallion test in 1985 with high scores particularly in the jumping phases; he received, for example, a "9.5" for free-jumping at his test. Brenda and I visited Armstrong in 2000, where even at the ripe age of 18 he gladly jumped through a 1.50 meter chute for us.

Armstrong has become known in Holland as a superb damsire. He is, for example, the damsire of the KWPN approved stallions Larino (by Concorde) and Navarone (by Jus de Pomme,) and in addition is the damsire of one of the better young jumpers at the 2002 Stallion Show, Salino (by Iroko and half-brother to Larino.) Armstrong is by G. Ramiro Z, out of the Keur, Preferent and Prestatie mare Terma. Terma is also the dam of the KWPN approved stallion Faram (by the deceased Aram, sire of the Olympic gold medal winner De Sjiem,) as well as the dam of the Oldenburg Reserve Champion of 1987, Rolando. A full-brother to Armstrong, Rolando is best known as the sire of Robert Dover's Olympic mount, Ranier.

Larole's dam Garole Keur excelled in both jumping and dressage and received "9's" for both gaits and jumping at her mare performance test. Garole, by Voltaire, is out of a dam by G. Ramiro Z. Thus Larole is a unique breeding mare: she is line-bred to Ramiro. This combination of Ramiro on both the top and bottom of a pedigree was tested quite successfully on occasion by Studfarm Zangerseide; for example, the approved stallion Rex Z is the product of both a Ramiro son and Ramiro daughter!

Larole received her "Star" rating while in foal at the age of three, and her "Keur" predicate at the age of four after only one month's preparation after weaning her first foal. She was sent back to Holland where she competed at Z level (1.30 meter classes) under the saddle of Dave Maarse. She was in the ribbons numerous times in Holland, and finished second (out of 102 horses) at the prestigious Jumping Eindhoven competition. She received her "Sport" rating based on her jumping record in Holland. She returned to the U.S. in 2001 in-foal to the Keur stallion Flemmingh. Larole has also had foals by the Preferent stallion Olympic Ahorn and the AES stallion Germanico (by Grannus/Landgraf.) Larole is going to take a year off from her breeding duties and will be competing with Brenda this spring and summer in the dressage ring.
