Onilia is by the Black Pearl of KWPN breeding, Olympic Ferro. Ferro was a member of the 2000 silver medal winning Dutch dressage team in Sydney, and is a crowd pleaser wherever he competes with rider Coby van Baalen. In 2002 Ferro had the most sons competing at the Stallion Show; he currently has eight approved sons, including the highest priced stallion at the 2001 Select Auction, Rousseau. In the 2001 Netherlands Mare Championships, three Ferro daughters were in the top ten, along with a daughter of a Ferro daughter and a daughter of a Ferro son. Of the total of 234 inspected Ferro daughters through 2001, no fewer than 113 were awarded "Star" and a further 19 awarded "Keur." Ferro himself was awarded the "Keur" predicate in 2000; this award is reserved for less than the top ten percent of KWPN breeding stallions.

Onilia's dam Catharinila is a "Keur" daughter of the thoroughbred upgrader Persian Path xx. Persian Path xx was used extensively in the late 1970's and early 1980's to improve the athleticism and "blood" of the heavier Dutch breeding mares typical at the time. Persian Path xx traces his lineage back through one of his grandsires, Persian Gulf xx, to the legendary thoroughbred Nearcos xx. Persian Path xx raced 13 times and won five times before retiring to the breeding shed.

Onilia is the proud mother of five KWPN horses: a colt by Welt Hit II, and fillies by Lancet, Feiner Stern and Freestyle and Sir Sinclair. She was awarded the "Star" predicate while in foal in Holland, placing fourth in the difficult Noord Brabant Central Keuring, and was made "Provisional Keur" in North America after her importation in 1999. She awaits her performance test to be awarded "Keur." She is a willing, hard worker under saddle, with roomy gaits and an attentive personality. We expect nothing less of her offspring. Onilia delivered a filly by Sir Sinclair in 2005 and has been sold to Leanne Peniuk in British Columbia (www.stonehillfarm.ca). Onilia will be bred this Spring to Iron Spring Farm's exciting new stallion UB-40.
